Disney's Amazon Springs Resort

Backstory
In the late 1940s, Gabriela Rodrigo and her brother Alexandre explored the tropical rain-forests of South America on an expedition to travel along the Amazon River. While on their quest, they gazed at the majesty of their surroundings, as Gabriela, a gifted artist, drew detailed illustrations of their surroundings. Growing up and traveling around from Brazil to Peru and back, she wasn't accustom to such beauty all around. Her art diary was something she treasured on the expedition through the rain-forest.

Noticing her love for the tropics, Alexandre, an aspiring architect, wanted to build his sister a place where she could gaze out onto the natural beauty of the rain-forest. Happening on a plot of land on the outskirts of populated areas, and along a spring of the Amazon River, Alexandre designed and built an apartment complex based on their two homes in the east and west parts of South America. Alexandre realized that this location had scenic views of streams, a small mountain steeped in the river basin, and many more beautiful surroundings.

As the location became known, it was offered to turn the location into a resort...a resort that would give everyone the opportunity of living in the rain-forest and among nature. A truly breath-taking experience, over the decades to come, the complex founded by Gabriela and Alexandre Rodrigo has grown into the Amazon Springs Resort you can experience today.

Disney's Amazon Springs Resort Overview

Across from the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, this tropical paradise is nestled next to the soon to be open Disney's Seven Wonders Theme Park. This resort thematically blends in with the Amazonian rain-forest land in the back of the new park, and provides a private entrance to the theme park as well.

Designed by Alexandre Rodrigo, this resort blends the architectural and thematic flares of South America with a distinct feature of spectacular views of the Amazon Springs and lush tropical forests. Divided into five main areas, the Amazon Springs Resort consists these locations. Entrada - the main lobby featuring the resort's check-in desk, restaurants, shops, and more. Espaniandéz (in orange) themed to the Rodrigo's hometown in western Peru and Portuerrá (in red) themed to their town in eastern Brazil. Lastly, Iquazú Falls, the resort's pool complex, is located in-between the guest room buildings and Trilhas Molas (Spring Trails), are located on the island in the middle of the resort.

As guests enter through the main two-story Entrada, they enter to a large fountain with tropical art surrounding you on murals embedded to the walls, drawn by Gabriela Rodrigo herself. As you venture further you can make a right and walk towards the check in desk. The lobby area is themed as if you are in a "tree house" in the middle of the Amazon rain-forest. You see large timbers rising towards the ceiling with greenery encompassing it.

Included in the Entrada building complex are a variety of restaurants, shops, and activities.

Restaurante Rio - dine in this table service restaurant themed to the rivers of the rain-forest. The aquatic setting and ambiance provide the perfect setting for a relaxing and unwinding meal. Serving authentic South America cuisine, this locale serves to inspire guests to subsume the atmosphere and scenery in a visceral dining experience unlike anywhere else in Hong Kong Disneyland

Torrente Comida - a marketplace food court style location, inspired by the outdoor cafes of South America. Dine on the fruits of the eclectic continent and discover the majesty of Portuguese-infused cuisine.

Frutos da Floresta - a convenience shop located in the Entrada that couples as a small resort merchandise location that also offers snack items for the guests on property.

Jóias da Arvore - translated to Jewels of the Trees, explore this quaint art gallery of the Amazon and rain-forest settings.

Praca de Lojas - a small shop on the promenade towards the Amazon Springs were you can rent bike, canoe, and other outdoor activity gear during your stay.

Once you check-in you are escorted to one of your two thematic guest room locations. Portuerrá (on the left) has a calming flare to it, perfect for relaxation and unwinding, and while Espaniandéz also offers quiet locations, it is more commonly a family location, with a closer proximity to the pool and other aquatic activities.

Iquazú Falls is the main pool complex in the Amazon Springs Resort. When Alexandre Rodrigo decided on this location to build the tree-house for his sister, he was mesmerized by thelocal watering hole off of the Amazon Springs. Equipped with alcoves and flowing rivers throughout the small mountain, this would make the perfect spot for relaxation.

The 3.5 acre pool area is equipped with a slide "Rio Ventoso" (Windy River) which scales the mountain side for a family-friendly splash landing in the large pool area. In the pool, there are three small islands providing shade to escape the summer heat. There are also tube retails to float along and inside the alcove of the Falls.

Poolside, you can order a nice meal and cold drink at Arte da Alma (Art of the Soul) serving throughout the pool hours. Also on the pool complex is the resort's weight-training facility, Membros Fortes (Strong Limbs) which offers guests the opportunity to stay in shape on their vacation.

In addition to the main pool, each of the guest room areas has their own respective quiet pool, nestled in-between the guest buildings.

Furthermore, there are many outdoor activities for guests to experience while at their stat at the Amazon Springs Resort. Grab a bike and go for a ride around the Trilhas Molas (Spring Trails) and venture into the rainforest island of the resort for an exotic adventure.
